Yesterday there was a big earthquake in Christchurch at twelve fifty one. It was massive. It destroyed houses, damaged buildings and if you see it now it looks like a giant knocked every thing down.
It was a disaster. No one is allowed in the city now. The people that are in Christchurch have nowhere to live, everyone is sad. It was the worst experience of their lives.
I feel sad for them so a way I can help is to donate money to them.

You have definitely donated money to them by our Care for Canterbury Day today - wearing Red and Black was a great idea. Thank you for such heartfelt writing. Ms Hansell
Hi Room 5,
What a moving piece of writing. I am actually from Christchurch-brought up and raised down there. I have been living up in Auckland since July 2002. My parents live down in Christchurch and were there when the Earthquake happened. It was a very scary experience for them. They were without power for three days. They were very lucky that they were not hurt in the Earthquake. Thank you for showing photographs of the damage caused by the Earthquake on your class blog and for raising money for Christchurch. I'm sure the Cantabrians will appreciate it.
