them safe from the sun...

Room 5 learnt about the country Mexico. They researched interesting facts about Mexico. Students dressed up like Mexicans in a sonbero,  colourful ribbon bracelets, poncho and wore bright colours. They played the maraca instrument, listened to famous Mexican musicians and  mariachi bands. Students decorated sugar skulls, had a fiesta with nachos, fruit and drank fruit sagre. Then the students had a go at smashing open a piñata and we all had fun in the sun!

SWIMMING

Tamaki Primary participated in a 2 week PE Swimming programme held at Lagoon Pools in Panmure. Here is Room 5 demonstrating their swimming skills and techniques. A big thank you goes out to the fantastic swimming instructors who kept our children safe in the water!

LOCATING BLEND WORDS

As part of the reading programme, Room 5 are learning about blend words. Blend words are groups of two or three consonants in words that makes a distinct consonant sound. Consonants include...
bl, br,
ch, cl, cr,
dr,
fl, fr,
gl, gr,
ph, pl, pr,
qu,
sc, sh, sk, sl, sm, sn, sp, st, sw,
th, tr, tw,
wh, wr.
To keep children busy in the holidays give them some junk
mail to locate, circle, sound, read and cut out blend words.
This will help reinforce what is taught in the classroom.
Here are some clever cookies locating blend words in
poems.
